Coming to Wolverhampton on business? How about some Wii time?

Wiifit1 Wiiiiiiiiii!...Executives staying at a Wolverhampton hotel can now relax with a spot of gaming, thanks to the latest stage of an on-going revamp.

The Novotel in Union Street, has already undergone massive refurbishment and is now into another phase which will see cutting edge technology introduced for business travellers.

Plans include the refurbishment of more than 40 bedrooms, and the launch of new conference facilities which include a chance for delegates to get their hands on a Nintendo Wii.

Manager Matt Ward, who is also the chairman of the Black County Hotels Association, said that introducing innovative new features under the Meeting@Novotel scheme, such as the console games would help offer delegates new ways to help relax or even build teams.

He added that plans for further updating of décor and design would help welcome business travellers –as a “renaissance” of the Black County gained momentum.

He said: “Gordon Brown addressed delegates in Birmingham a few weeks ago to say the region is on the up, we are delighted to be part of a forward-thinking, optimistic and ambitious Black Country.

“We already have a reputation for excellence and first-time visitors are bowled over by first impressions of the hotel thanks to the large scale investment which has already been ploughed in to the accommodation in recent months.

“We plan to have an official launch but first of all we aim to get the latest £350,000 worth of work under way.

“Visitors considering investing further in the region require the highest levels of customer care and comfort.

“Since the last phase of our refurbishment was completed, our visitors have been stunned by the interior when they walk through the doors and we’ve had comments saying it far exceeded their expectations.

“The banqueting suite, customer lounge and restaurant at The Novotel have all already benefited from an overhaul in the first phase of work.

“I want to help put the Novotel back on the local map and would love people to come and see for themselves what we now have to offer. Our Novation bedrooms offer our best service yet.

“We were disappointed that the recent People’s Millions vote result wasn’t in the Black Country’s favour but are encouraged that the region also sets to be boosted by some £268 million as detailed in a blueprint for regeneration that was revealed by the government in January.

“There are bound to be positive effects on Wolverhampton’s tourism industry thanks to the announcements made as part of the West Midlands Regional Spatial Strategy and I look forward to welcoming new visitors who are attracted by a bright new outlook.”
